After Manen created the Guardians, there was a long time of quiet from Aurinko and the people He subjugated. Aurinko was crafty and hid His doings from his Mother. His silence and secrecy frightened Manen greatly, so She created quasars and spread them all across the void, naming them the Fates. Their job is to read the stars and record all they see.

They see many futures and Manen sorts through them all to find the best possible ones for fighting against Her Son. She whispers these fragments of destiny to those most open to Her will, and that is how prophecies are born.

Aurinko eventually found out about these Fates and their divining powers. He does what He can to decipher their words, but they are difficult for Him to read. What He understands is enough. In this way, He works to undermine His Mother’s efforts.
